Nursing care worker suffocates patient by feeding him porridge 5 times in 80 seconds

The Gwangju District Court’s Criminal Division 6 announced on the 10th that it sentenced A (59), a care worker indicted on charges of professional negligence manslaughter, to six months in prison and two온라인카지노 years of probation.

In August last year, Mr. A was handed over to trial on charges of causing death from airway obstruction and asphyxiation by hastily spoon-feeding porridge to Mr. B, a patient in his 80s who was hospitalized in a nursing home in Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do.

Mr. B, who had no teeth, was eating only watery porridge due to difficulty swallowing. On the day of the incident, he was eating alone and slowly for 30 minutes, eating porridge once every 55 seconds.

Mr. A, who was watching this, quickly spoon-fed the porridge five times in 1 minute and 20 seconds. Mr. B later showed difficulty breathing and received emergency treatment, but eventually died.

Mr. A claimed, “I only put the porridge that had flowed into his mouth, and he did not feed it to me in a hurry.”

However, the court determined that the patient died due to Mr. A’s violation of his duty of care based on closed-circuit ( CC ) TV footage from inside the nursing home at the time.

The court said, “The defendant was not forgiven by the bereaved family even though he caused the serious consequences of the victim’s death due to professional negligence.”

He then explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, “However, considering that insurance money can be paid to the surviving family and that the deceased patient was not in good health at the time, I am imposing a suspended sentence.”
