Jae-Myung Lee “I am deeply grateful to the judiciary for proving that it is the last bastion of human rights.”

Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who escaped the risk of arrest, said on the 27th, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the judiciary for clearly proving that it is the last bastion of human rights.”

Representative Lee came out the main gate of the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do at around 3:50 a.m. on this day and said, “First of all, I would like to thank the many people who joined us late at night and the citizens who are still unable to sleep and are watching this scene. “After all, politics is done by the people, even if it seems like it is done by politicians,” he said.

Representative Lee said, “Both the ruling and opposition parties and the government should not forget that politics is always about taking care of the lives of the people and pioneering the future of the country. Now, it is not a war to kill and eliminate the other, but a question of who can play a bigger role for the people and the country. “I hope we can return to politics in the true sense of competition,” he said.

He continued, “The day after tomorrow is Chuseok, which should be fun, but the lives of our people and the pending issues of our economy and people’s livelihood are truly difficult,” adding, “I hope that our politics will give hope to the people and be helpful to the future of this country.” “I ask the government, the ruling party, and the entire political world to do this,” he emphasized.

Representative Lee bowed his head, saying, “Once again, I am deeply grateful to the judiciary for firmly protecting the constitutional order of the Republic of Korea and making wise decisions.”

He did not answer reporters’ questions스포츠토토 about how he would deal with the investigation in the future, but returned to Green Hospital, where he was receiving treatment, in a prepared black car. It has been about 18 hours since she appeared in court at about 10:07 a.m. the previous day to be interrogated as a suspect before arrest (warrant review).

Even before the court’s decision to dismiss the arrest warrant on this day, the Democratic Party’s new floor leader Hong Ik-pyo, Secretary General Cho Jung-sik, and top members Chung Cheong-rae, Ko Min-jung, Park Chan-dae, Seo Young-kyo, and Jang Gyeong-tae visited the Seoul Detention Center early and waited for Representative Lee. Representative Lee left the Seoul detention center holding his cane and shook hands with each of the lawmakers.

Seoul Central District Court Chief Judge Yoo Chang-hoon, in charge of warrants, dismissed the arrest warrant requested by the prosecution after interrogating the suspect (warrant review) before arresting Representative Lee the previous day. Chief Judge Yoo judged, “Considering the degree of need to guarantee the suspect’s right to defense and the degree of concern about destruction of evidence, it is difficult to say that there is a reason and need for the suspect’s detention to the extent of excluding the principle of investigation without detention.”

Previously, the prosecution had accused Lee of causing at least 20 billion won in damage to the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation by providing various preferential treatment to a private business in Baekhyeon-dong, and of forcing Kim Seong-tae (arrested and indicted), former chairman of Ssangbangwool Group, to pay a total of 8 million dollars to North Korea. An arrest warrant was requested on the 18th.
