With Ulsan clinching the early K League 1 title, fans are now turning their attention to which team will be promoted to the top division.

The top team in the second division gets automatic promotion, and Busan, led by ‘promotion expert’ Park Jin-seop, is currently the favorite.

From the phrases that convey a determination to get promoted, to the fighting spirit that emanates from the training ground, Busan’s current mood is evident.

Busan finished in 10th place last season, but now they are in first place and looking at automatic promotion in just one year.

At the center of the change is a “promotion specialist.

Since Park Jin-seop took the helm last June, Busan has been different.

He stabilized the team this season with the second fewest goals conceded in the second division and a solid defense.

They’re leading the table with two points over second-place Gimcheon.

[Choi Joon/Busan I-Park: “I think we’ve found our own color, and we’re a team that doesn’t concede goals no matter how we play or anything like that, and we’re definitely keeping a zero-goal defense (conceding less than one goal per game).”]

Park knows the second division better than anyone, having promoted Gwangju in 2019.

His strategy of bringing in veteran players from the first division this summer has also paid off.

[Park Jin-seop/Busan I-Park: “(Promotion) is the reason I came here, and I want to do it, and I will do my best to get Busan back to League 1 (after four years) no matter what.”]

With only two games left, Busan says it will do everything it can to stay in first place until the end.
